Brief:
Dave Scheidt had a logo sketched by Jess Smart Smiley and wanted another pass at it. I liked the foundation, but wanted to develop the letter forms.
Notes:
The final logo went through one more revision. With the political climate at the time it was decided to get away from the patriotic "red, white, and blue" and make the logo slightly more apolitical.
Selection of comic logos:
- Mayor Good Boy | published by Random House Graphic
- Brobots | published by Oni Press
- Wrapped Up | published by Lion Forge
- Revival | published by Image Comics
- Hack/Slash | published by Image Comics
- Everlast | published by Archaia
- Aloha, Hawaiian Dick | published by Image Comics
- Great Pacific | published by Image Comics
- Sheena Queen of the Jungle | published by Devil's Due Publishing
- G.I.Joe Storm Shadow | published by Devil's Due Publishing
- Lord of Gore | published by Devil's Due Publishing
- Dragonlance Legends | published by Devil's Due Publishing
Brief:
He's a teenage mummy. A lot of the humor comes from being a weirdo in high school and being sort of the odd man out in every situation. Think Freaks and Geeks and 80's teen comedies but with a sort of modern sensibility to it. Not straight homage but a tinge of that flavor.
Notes:
- handwritten or something that would be scribbled in a notebook
- the word Mummy would be big and spooky but fun looking
- the letters being wrapped like a mummy, cartoony with big round letters.
Book and Logo design for my own book published at Oni Press. It was fun but I’m my worst client. I really wanted to capture the feeling of energy and excitement of the start of your favorite cartoon.
